Deadlocks come in many different shapes and designs. One of the more common designs is the deadbolt. This lock is recommended and commonly used because of its strength and easy operation. To lock this lock you simply insert a key and turn to lock. To unlock you insert a key and turn to unlock. With a lock like this, you will never lock yourself out, as you will need a key to lock it. Also with a lock like this, you will not need to lock the inside of the lock as well, With other locks, you need to lock the inside of the lock to achieve double locking. Double locking is where the lock is locked from both sides of the door at the same time. This is useful if an intruder breaks in through a window, they can not open a door to remove your belongings. Dr Lock recommends Double locking deadlocks as well as insurance companies. This lock comes in two different types – Double cylinder or single cylinder. The single-cylinder lock has a turn snib on the inside of the lock to open using the turn snib you simply turn with your hand – no key needed. The double cylinder looks identical on both sides of the lock, Once locked key is then required to unlock from both sides. The double cylinder is known as a double-locking deadbolt deadlock.
