This is a specially designed kit “Made By Dr Lock only “to replace an existing Gainsborough 3000 mortice lock with a suitable fire-rated mortice lock into the same footprint that is left from the old Ginsbrough 3000 mortice lock. (Patent 2022291530)

If you are looking at this page, you most likely are the unfortunate owner of a Gainsborough 3000 or Gainsborough 3400 or Gainsborough 3500 mortice lock, that has failed or internally broken. 

There is a reason why the manufacturer has stopped manufacturing this lock, my guess would be because of the internal faults that the lock develops over time. 

Since now there is no replacement lock from Gainsborough, and the size and shape of the Gainsborough 3000 mortice lock are completely different from the industry standard, many customers are left in a desirable position. 

Once your Gainsborough 3400 mortice lock has failed or jammed, you have the following options.

• 1. Replace the door and reinstall a standard mortice lock “very expensive”
• 2. Replace the broken lock with a replacement Gainsborough 3000 mortice lock ” If you can find a lock, not likely, have not been made for years”
• 3. Install the Dr Lock Gainsbrough 3000 mortice lock replacement kit. “Same door, same spot”

This kit has been designed and painted “Pat 2022291530” to give customers a less expensive and more convenient option for their Gainsborough 3000 lock problem. Now there is an option for Locksmith and handyman to simply replace the lock and make the door useable. 

Not only will this Gainsbrough 3000 replacement kit cover the original footprint of the removed Gainbrough 3000 mortice lock, it will also cover the footprint left by the old handles and cylinder. 

This kit allows you to have an industry-standard mortice lock on your door, just like the rest of Australia. Parts will always be available for the industry standard-sized mortice lock, and many manufacturers use the same compatible parts for this lock. This means you can use a Lockwood handle or a KABA handle and it will still work. You can swap a Lockwood cylinder for a Brava cylinder, and they are all compatible with this lock. 

This kit is a must for all locksmiths to carry. It means that if you have to replace a Gainsborough 3000 mortice lock you can simply remove the old lock and install the new lock in under 15 minutes.

This kit comes in two options. 

Option 1. Storeroom function = The outside door handle is always locked, you need a key to be turned to open the door. The inside handle is always free to exit. This allows you to simply slam the door behind you without the need to use your key to lock the lock. Not suitable if you have two locks, such as a deadlatch lock above your mortice lock, EG.. Lockwood 001

Option 2. Classroom Function = The outside door handle is unlocked and locked with the key. You can leave the lock unlocked if you are going in and out. You need to use the key to lock the lock from the outside. This is more suitable if you have a deadlatch “Lockwood 001” on the door as well.

The 60mm mortice lock body and latch are made from 304 Stainless Steel, making them not only extremely tough and durable but also extremely weather resistant to the harsh Australian environment.

This mortice lock also retrofits to Australian standard 60mm mortice locks and comes with the required fixing screws, strikes, cylinder retaining pins, turn snib adapter, templates, and instructions.
